Get to know Vascular-Interventional Radiologist Dr. Jonathan K. West, who serves patients in Lexington, South Carolina.

Dr. West is a dual board-certified vascular-interventional radiologist and a Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation (RPVI). He is a part of the team of professionals at Lexington Radiology Associates, seeing patients out of the office in Lexington, South Carolina.

He has extensive expertise in angioplasty and stenting of mesenteric and peripheral arteries using the latest drug-eluting stents, drug-coated balloons, and atherectomy devices. He also performs embolization for bleeding control, uterine artery embolization for fibroids, Y90 radioembolization, chemoembolization and ablation for liver tumors, thrombectomy and stenting for deep vein thrombosis and May-Thurner Syndrome, iliocaval reconstruction for chronic venous occlusions, thrombolysis for pulmonary embolism and extremity arteries for ischemia, gonadal vein embolization, mechanical thrombectomy for stroke, transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt, and balloon-occluded retrograde transvenous obliteration of varices.

The doctor’s acclaimed career in medicine began after he earned his medical degree from the Emory University School of Medicine. He then went on to complete his residency in radiology and his fellowship in vascular and interventional radiology with the University of Virginia Health System.

Specializing in minimally invasive image-guided procedures, Dr. West holds dual board certifications in diagnostic radiology and vascular interventional radiology through the American Board of Radiology (ABR). The ABR is a not-for-profit physician-led organization that oversees the certification and ongoing professional development of specialists in diagnostic radiology, interventional radiology, radiation oncology, and medical physics.

In good standing with a number of professional organizations, he is a member of the Society of Interventional Radiology, the American College of Radiology, the Radiological Society of North America, the Wilderness Medical Society, and the Academy of Wilderness Medicine (Fellow - FAWM).

Interventional radiology is a medical subspecialty that performs various minimally-invasive procedures using medical imaging guidance, such as x-ray fluoroscopy, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, or ultrasound. A vascular-interventional radiologist utilizes images to guide various procedures for a variety of minimally-invasive, vascular, and non-vascular procedures to treat a wide range of diseases.
