Get to know Clinical Psychotherapist Steve Shefchik, who serves the population of Green Bay, Wisconsin. Steve completed his undergraduate degree from Marquette University with a Bachelor’s Degree, double majoring in Psychology and History of Philosophy, in 1993. Furthering his education he completed his Masters degree in Counseling, specializing in Community Mental Health from Lakeland University in 2002. He is certified as a Licensed Professional Counselor. He has over two decades of experience in his field. Steve currently practices within his private practice Power for Change. A practice which offers intensive in-home therapy services in the Green Bay and Milwaukee area. He holds an expertise in community mental health, brainspotting, addiction counseling. He specializes in adjustment disorders, ADD/ADHD; Oppositional Defiant Disorder; mood disorders (depression, anxiety, and anger), thought disorders (schizophrenia and schizoaffective), grief/loss, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Marriage/ Couples counseling; family counseling; personality disorders, and self-abusive behaviors. Steve also has experience working with AODA, gambling addictions, Autism/Aspergers, and sex addictions. A psychotherapist interacts with patients to initiate change in the patient’s thoughts, feelings, and behavior through adaptation. Psychotherapists provide treatment in individual and group settings. A licensed psychotherapist obtains a master’s degree or doctorate in a chosen mental health field, undergoes a supervised clinical residency, and is licensed, certified, or registered by a government or psychological agency to which they are accountable.
