Dr. Galvis is a pediatrician who is affiliated with the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, which is a premier metropolitan research university whose mission is to promote community well-being and individual achievement through education, research, scholarship, creative activities, and clinical services. The faculty of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas Department of Pediatrics provide education for students and residents, participate in scholarly activities/research, and care for the children of Las Vegas in a multi-specialty faculty practice. 

Dr. Galvis is also a part of the Program in Medical Education for the Latino Community (PRIME-LC), which is a five-year MD/Master’s program that is committed to training physicians to meet the needs of under-resourced Latino communities. Established by the University of California Irvine School of Medicine in 2003, PRIME-LC offers an enhanced medical school curriculum that includes coursework emphasizing leadership, advocacy, and service. The program includes coursework from the School of Social Sciences and the School of Medicine, experiential learning opportunities throughout California, an international clinical rotation, as well as completion of a master’s degree. Each year, PRIME-LC admits about 12 Spanish-speaking students who go on to practice in a wide array of medical specialties.

Dr. Galvis earned his undergraduate degree from Santa Clara University. He then went on to earn his medical degree from the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine, followed by his Doctor of Philosophy degree from the same University. 

Pediatrics is the branch of medicine that involves the medical care of infants, children, and adolescents.
