Get to know General Surgeon Dr. Sara Y. Kim, who serves patients in New York City, New York.

Licensed to practice medicine in New York, Dr. Kim is a board-certified general surgeon and fellowship-trained breast surgical oncologist.  She is affiliated with Staten Island University Hospital & Northwell Health Cancer Institute.

Staten Island University Hospital is a member hospital of Northwell Health. It is a two-campus, 668-bed specialized teaching hospital and major tertiary referral center in Staten Island, New York City, New York. The 17-acre North campus houses Staten Island’s most modern emergency department, a state-of-the-art education center, and a medical arts pavilion. The South campus boasts its own emergency department and offers a range of specialty programs, including geriatric psychiatry, behavioral health, and substance abuse services.

Throughout her academic career, Dr. Kim graduated with her medical degree from New York Medical College in 2011. She then went on to perform her residency at the State University of New York Health Science Center at Brooklyn, followed by her fellowship at Roswell Park Cancer Institute.

As a testament to her success, she is board-certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery, an independent, non-profit organization located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, founded for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge.

Breast surgical oncology is a surgical subspecialty that focuses on individualized treatment of breast cancer, diagnosis and management of high risk breast lesions as well as benign breast disease, and high risk screening for patients with a predisposition to cancer based off family history or personal history.  

Dr. Kim is patient-centric and offers personalized management decisions specific to each individuals needs and expectations as well as guiding them through a multidisciplinary approach to treat all aspects of there cancer care.
