Get to know Dentist Dr. Trey Miller, who serves patients in Amarillo, Texas.
A highly-trained dentist, Dr. Miller is the Owner & Operator of Advanced Dentistry of Amarillo. He serves patients across the Tri-State area of Texas, Oklahoma, and Eastern New Mexico.
With experience in the latest developments in neuromuscular, adhesive, and cosmetic dentistry, he specializes in full mouth rehabilitation, cosmetic smile makeovers, and TMJ/TMD (jaw joint pain & dysfunction) treatment. He also treats sleep apnea/snoring with oral appliance therapy.
With a passion for technology, Dr. Miller’s office is equipped to comprehensively digitally diagnose complex jaw problems using 3-D jaw tracking, computerized EMG muscle activity analysis, CBCT (3-D facial and skeletal imaging), and digital intraoral scanning (which is much more accurate than the older method of traditional impressions). This objective and highly accurate scientific diagnosis and treatment planning ability leads to the best possible outcomes for patients undergoing TMJ therapy or functional restorative dental treatments and cosmetic smile makeovers.
A proud Amarillo native, Dr. Miller graduated as Valedictorian of his high school class in Bushland. He then enrolled at Texas Tech University on academic scholarship, where he was active in both the College of Arts & Sciences as well as the Honors College. He graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a minor in Chemistry in only 3 years.
He attended The University of Texas School of Dentistry in Houston, where he had the opportunity to learn the latest techniques in dentistry and receive training using advanced technology such as dental lasers and digital scanning and case planning. Upon completion, he also received the highest award given in dental training at UT in the field of operative dentistry.
Recognizing early on that dental school was only a foundation and that there was still so much more to learn, Dr. Miller pursued rigorous additional training at the prestigious Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies (LVI). He also obtained ‘Fellowship’ status (LVIF) at LVI, as recognition of being one of the top cosmetic restorative and TMJ/sleep apnea dentists in the country.
Always learning through ongoing continuing education to remain up-to-date in all areas of advanced dental care, he is a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry (FAGD). Only the top 6% of dentists in the United States by continuing education hours are eligible for this Fellowship status.
Furthermore, he is active in the Panhandle SPEAR Study Club, the Panhandle Christian Dental Society, the American Dental Association, the Texas Academy of General Dentistry, the American Dental Education Association, the Panhandle District Dental Society, the American Student Dental Association, the Texas Tech Alumni Association, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, and the American Academy of Implant Dentistry.
A leader within the local dental community, Dr. Miller serves as Vice President of the Panhandle District Dental Society, which represents the region under the TDA (Texas Dental Association). He also serves on the TDA Peer Review Committee based out of Austin.
Dentistry, also known as Dental and Oral Medicine, is a branch of medicine that consists of the study, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases, disorders, and conditions of the oral cavity. Dentists diagnose and treat dental issues and help patients develop better oral hygiene regimens. They clean teeth, correct bite issues, perform surgeries, create beautiful smiles, and perform other duties to ensure that the teeth and mouth are healthy.
Dr. Miller has been named a Texas “Super Dentist” by Texas Monthly magazine, which includes the top 10% of Texas dentists selected by peer nominations, and a review of credentials and the amount of advanced continuing education completed.
Outside the office, he enjoys volunteering and serving the community. He serves as a part-time Clinical Instructor/Supervising Dentist at the Amarillo College Dental Hygiene Program, and one can regularly find him participating in dental “Mission of Mercy” and “Give Kids a Smile” events. He also mentors high school students with an interest in the field of dentistry through the Amarillo Rotary Mentor program.
He and his wife, Rachel, a local attorney, actively attend Hillside Christian Church.
