Having been granted full credit for her internship year, Dr Kao completed her residency in internal medicine in the same program changing their name to Inspira her third year.
A Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Internists (FACOI), she is board-certified in internal medicine by the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine (AOBIM).
