    For your heart rate to go up and blood pressure to drop from anemia, the anemia has to be severe and sudden. The body has a wonderful way of compensating over time and adjusting to lower levels of hemoglobin in the blood. You did not report your mothers hemoglobin or iron/ferritin/transferrin saturation levels. The iron pills should help if she is truly iron deficient. Some people cannot absorb oral iron and may end up needing intravenous iron infusions. READ MORE

  • CBC blood?

    MCV is a measure of how big your red blood cells are. It can be elevated for several different reasons: Vitamin B12 deficiency, folic acid deficiency, alcohol abuse, thyroid disease, bleeding, or a bone marrow disorder. The MPV measures the size of your platelets. If it is elevated it usually means your platelets are lower than normal and your bone marrow is releasing smaller, more immature platelets to compensate for the loss. Your reported platelet count was low at 46.2 but it appears to be a mistype because it is the same number as your hematocrit (HCT).
