A dedicated pediatrician, Dr. Ataya-Dakour sees patients at Greater Beaumont Pediatrics and Family Medicine, where she works together with her husband, Dr. Ramzi Dakour. She specializes in immunizations, preventive care, newborn care, physicals, acute illnesses, and ADHD.

“I always knew I wanted to take care of kids in some way. I grew up watching my dad work as a pediatrician. He loved his job, you could see it in the way he woke up every morning excited to go to work. He would take me with him to work and to the hospital and I got to understand a little of what he did. His patients loved him and still do. I wanted to do something that I could enjoy as much as my dad did. He never told me to become a doctor but in watching him I fell in love with what he did and from then on, I knew I wanted to be a pediatrician and form the same kind of connections with my patients and their families as my dad did. I loved the idea of watching my patients grow up into adults” stated Dr. Ataya-Dakour.

From birth through adolescence, Greater Beaumont Pediatrics & Family Medicine has always been dedicated to providing children with superior health care services. Now, the family-owned practice has expanded to include a family practice that will deliver that same trusted service to every member of the family.

In addition to being in private practice, Dr. Ataya-Dakour can be found on staff at Baptist Hospital and St. Elizabeth Hospital.

Academically, she earned her medical degree at the University of Texas Medical Branch Galveston in 2010. She then went on to complete her residency in pediatrics at Texas Children’s Hospital in 2013, and pursued a BBA degree in finance from the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin.

A Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (FAAP), Dr. Ataya-Dakour is board-certified in pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP). The mission of the ABP is to advance child health by certifying pediatricians who meet standards of excellence and are committed to continuous learning and improvement.

Pediatrics is the branch of medicine that involves the medical care of infants, children, and adolescents. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends individuals be under pediatric care up to the age of 21. Pediatricians provide medical care to people ranging in age from newborns to young adults. They are trained to examine, diagnose, and treat children with a wide variety of injuries and illnesses through all of their developmental stages, as they grow and mature.

As a testament of her dedication to the field of pediatrics, Dr. Ataya-Dakour has been featured frequently on local news discussing the importance of vaccines and other issues impacting the health and well-being of children and adolescents.
