Get to know Clinical Pathologist Dr. Christopher Leveque, who serves patients in Houston, Texas.

Dr. Leveque is a clinical pathologist specializing in blood banking and transfusion medicine. He joined the Department of Pathology and Genomic Medicine at Houston Methodist in 2004, where he is currently Medical Director of the Blood Bank and Director of the Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine Fellowship Program.

His current responsibilities include direction of the Houston Methodist donor center with fixed and mobile sites, an apheresis center, and a transfusion service that provides for active cardiovascular surgery, transplant, and oncology service lines. 

Back in the early days of his academic career, Dr. Leveque graduated with his medical degree from the Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans in 1981. He then went on to perform his internship, residency in pathology, and fellowship in transfusion medicine at The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston (UTMB).

He remained at UTMB as the director of the Blood Bank until 1990 when he joined the faculty at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston as an assistant professor in the Department of Pathology. He then joined the Department of Pathology and Genomic Medicine at Houston Methodist.

Dedicated to excellence, the doctor is board-certified in clinical pathology & blood banking/transfusion medicine by the American Board of Pathology (ABPath). The mission of the ABPath is to promote the health of the public and advance the practice and science of pathology by establishing voluntary certification standards and assessing the qualifications of those seeking to practice the specialty of pathology.
