  • My shoulder pain is getting worse without chiropractic?

A great thing about chiropractic care is that it is geared towards maintaining joint range of motion because we know that joint flexibility and pain-free go hand in hand. I always recommend a few exercises to my patients for in between appointments that help maintain range of motion. You should reach out to your chiropractor to see if they have things to help you maintain your condition when you're unable to get in to their office. READ MORE

  • What are the benefits of seeing a chiropractor?

There are various benefits to chiropractic care including, but not limited to improved joint range of motion, decreased neck and lower back pain, diagnosis and treatment of nerve related problems, postural analysis and corrective care, improved circulation and overall well-being. Find a doctor that aligns with your health and lifestyle values. READ MORE

  • How do I stop my pelvis from rotating?

There are so many things that cause us to become misaligned. The easiest way to maintain natural, normal joint alignment is to exercise and strengthen the muscles surrounding the joint. The more protection the joint has the more comfortable it will feel to be self sufficient. READ MORE

  • How can I crack my lower back like a chiropractor?

Unfortunately, there is no way to crack your back like a chiropractor. HOWEVER, if i were to try on myself, I'd imagine it would look like a yoga posture, so try some poses and see if that helps. READ MORE

  • How do you know if your sciatic nerve is pinched?

Great question. The sciatic nerve runs from your low back, into the glute, down the back of the leg all the way to the big toe. If you have low back pain accompanied by sharp, stabbing or burning pain anywhere along the nerve with or without muscle weakness. You'd need imaging for a definitive answer. Hopefully that helps. • How do you pop your middle back?

Great question. When you say "pop," I think you're referring to an adjustment. Although it isn't recommended, people self adjust all the time. Unfortunately, I couldn't advise you on how to do it yourself, but we do get a lot of good movement out deep stretching so try that or go to your local chiropractor! Hopefully this helps. READ MORE

  • How long does a chiropractic adjustment take to work for shoulder pain?

Great question! Chiropractic therapy which includes adjustments "work" by helping facilitate alignment to improve function. Depending on the cause of the pain therapy could work quickly, in fair time or not at all. Staying committed to your therapy is the most efficient way to monitor your progress. You should learn what does and/or doesn't help you in the process. Hopefully this helps and is encouraging if you feel lost in your therapy progress. READ MORE

Great Question! Water is a great for our health in many ways including physical activity. In cases of structural or anatomical scoliosis, swimming can help improve, gain and maintain your range of motion. So yes, swimming is safe and very helpful for someone managing with scoliosis. READ MORE

  • Can spinal misalignment cause anxiety?

Great question. The three major things that cause spinal misalignment are trauma, toxins, and your thoughts. If your spinal misalignment is causing physical pain then it does have the potential to cause anxiety. It is also very possible for anxiety to cause you to become misaligned. Emotions like stress and anxiety typically have negative effects on your body long-term. Hopefully this helps. Dr. Lauren Harden, D.C READ MORE

  • Can a chiropractor help a dislocated rib?

Great question. Yes, chiropractors are actually very well trained at realigning dislocated ribs. Either with hands-on adjusting or tool assisted techniques. Hopefully this helps! Dr. Lauren Harden, D.C. READ MORE

  • Can a chiropractor help with carpal tunnel?

This is a great question and the answer is yes! Adjustments of the extremities are designed to encourage proper alignment and space in the joint, in this case the wrist joint. In carpal tunnel syndrome, you typically have a lot of compressive forces putting stress on the joint causing progressive pain. Maintaining good alignment at the wrist lessens that stress and decreases the pressure on the joint. Dr. Lauren Harden, D.C READ MORE

  • Do chiropractors realign the spine?

Yes! We are trained to notice when and where the alignment of the spine and/or extremities need to be realigned, and using special techniques, we ASSIST YOU with proper alignment. READ MORE

  • Why does my back always hurt?

That's a great question, thanks for asking. There are quite a few possibilities for the cause of consistent low back pain. My first suggestion has to be for you to see a chiropractor or healthcare provider to find out the cause of the pain via exams, special tests and/or imaging if necessary. If you're not sure about that route the next best thing would be for you to keep a journal about your low back pain pinpointing all the things that affect you daily from waking up to laying back down. Once you do that you can investigate for yourself the causes (and solutions) for your pain. Personally, I'd do both! Hopefully this helps. Dr. Lauren Harden, D.C READ MORE

  • How do you get instant relief from neck pain?

Hey! Great question. Instant relief is tough to judge. There are a lot of causes of neck pain and so the most generic answer I can give you is in order to get instant relief from neck pain (and all other pain) is to find the source of that pain. Once you find the source, you're a step closer to finding the solution to that pain. Hope this helps. Dr. Lauren Harden, D.C READ MORE

  • What causes a stiff neck all of a sudden?

Hey! Thanks for the question. There are quite a few things that could cause someone to have a stiff neck, but if there isn't any trauma or pre-existing conditions, I would first consider sleeping position or recurrent work/repetitive stress habits to be the cause of awakening with a stiff neck. Seeing a chiropractor or your primary care doctor would give you the best bet of finding a cause for that pain. Hopefully this helps. Dr. Lauren Harden, D.C READ MORE

  • What happens if you let a herniated disc go untreated?

Great question! Herniated discs are common problems that we see in the office. Believe it or not, a lot of people are walking around with varying degrees of disc herniation. This diagnosis becomes symptomatic when the "gel" portion of the disc begins to push through the fibers containing it. The pressure on the fibers continues to build until eventually tearing may occur and in extreme cases, result in that disc "gel" spilling into important structures housed by your spinal canal. This doesn't happen in all cases, but it's what you'd consider the worst case scenario when it comes to untreated disc herniation. Hopefully this provides a little clarity. READ MORE

  • What exercises improve posture?

Very good question, thanks for asking! Without getting too specific, I can definitely recommend yoga poses like Cat/Camel, Abdominal breathing, Upward/Downward facing dog to be generally great for keeping range of motion in, as well as strengthening key posture holding muscles. I usually insist on all of my patients to find 2-3 poses they can do daily. Hopefully this helps or gives you a good starting point for your research! Dr. Lauren Harden, D.C. READ MORE

  • Do I need a massage or chiropractor for back pain?

Great question! There are so many different causes of low back pain and visiting a chiropractor is highly recommended in getting to the source of and the solution for that pain. Chiropractors are trained to find and treat/manage the causes of most sources of low back pain. Massage therapy and chiropractic care are an extremely effective duo in treatment of the many causes of low back pain. In some states you don't even need a referral to see a chiropractor and/or massage therapist. Do some research and find a doctor in your area if you think this type of care would be helpful for you! • How long should it take for a chiropractor to fix your back?

Thank you for your question! Unfortunately, age is not a reliable enough factor when it comes to determining a time frame for successful recovery from back injury or surgery. It is true that as we age our healing and recovery processes do slow, but the good news is that with a good enough program and health care team you can learn your personal regimen for self-management which gives you better long-term prognosis.
