Get to know Family Physician Dr. John A. Pennisi, who serves patients in Naples, Florida.

Dr. Pennisi, a board-certified and fellowship-trained family physician, has chosen to focus his care on older adults, with special interest in testing for Alzheimer’s disease and other causes of memory loss. He helps older adults maintain functional independence and provides comprehensive geriatric assessment for elderly patients (with emphasis on adults 65 years of age and older). At present, he is in practice with NCH Physician Group Internal Medicine in Naples, Florida.

The physicians at NCH Physician Group Internal Medicine focus on adult medicine by emphasizing prevention and treatment of adult diseases with state-of-the-art technology in a compassionate environment. They work closely with specialists as well as ancillary testing departments such as radiology, laboratory, and physical therapy to help solve puzzling diagnostic problems.

Originally from southern New Jersey, Dr. Pennisi grew up in a suburb of Philadelphia. He graduated with his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine in 2011. He then went on to complete his internship at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, followed by his residency in family medicine and his fellowship in geriatric medicine at the Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine in 2014 and 2016, respectively.

Holding certifications in family medicine and geriatic medicine, the doctor is board-certified through the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians (AOBFP). The AOBFP is an organization that provides board certification to qualified osteopathic physicians who specialize in delivering comprehensive primary care for patients of all ages, genders, and addressing all parts of the body.

A family physician is often the first person a patient sees when seeking healthcare services. They examine and treat patients with a wide range of conditions and refer those with serious ailments to a specialist or appropriate facility.
