Dr. Rizk is a breast surgical oncologist with Ascension Medical Group Michigan Breast Specialists. She operates out of the offices in Warren, Grosse Pointe Woods, and Macomb, Michigan.

Her hospital affiliations include Ascension Macomb-Oakland Hospital, Ascension Providence Hospital, Ascension Providence Rochester Hospital, and Ascension St. John Hospital.

Receiving her Bachelor’s Degree with Honors, Dr. Rizk majored in Biochemistry from the University of Michigan. She then went on to receive both her Medical Degree and Doctorate Degree from the Wayne State University School of Medicine. 

Furthering her training, Dr. Rizk completed her residency in general surgery at Beaumont Health Systems in Royal Oak and her fellowship in breast surgical oncology at the University of Michigan.

Board certified in general surgery, she is a Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery (ABS). The ABS is an independent, non-profit organization located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, founded for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge.

Passionate about education and giving back to the community, Dr. Rizk was active in various didactic series and mentorship programs throughout her medical training. The majority of her graduate and postgraduate research has been presented at national meetings and has been published in peer-reviewed journals. 

In graduate school, Dr. Rizk received the Dean’s Research Excellence Award for her research in the metabolic perturbations and the subsequent response to focal ischemic-reperfusion injury. She hopes to expand her research now and examine the relationship of metabolomics and breast cancer. 

Surgical oncology is the branch of surgery applied to oncology; it focuses on the surgical management of tumors, especially cancerous tumors. A breast surgical oncologist is a surgeon who specializes in breast cancer surgery. 

Throughout her line of work, Dr. Rizk has served on editorial boards, multiple educational committees and has published a book chapter in a scientific textbook on “Peptides”.
