With over 20 years of experience in the mental health field, Julie’s ultimate goal is for each unique individual who comes to Mended Hearts to reach a balanced state. She strives to help patients try to achieve healthy coping skills for their minds and bodies as they work together throughout the sessions. 

Julie is a member of the American Counseling Association, Phi Kappa Tau, and the National Board for Certified Counselors. Julie was a nurse for many years, working on inpatient, adolescent, adult, and eating disorder units at OSF and Methodist hospitals. At that time, she earned her master’s degree in counseling from Bradley University, graduating with high academic honors.

Her medical background has contributed to her belief in a holistic approach to counseling. This approach leads her to take body, mind, support systems, and spirituality into account when working with patients. It is important to recognize that all components of the individual are interconnected and she believes that in order to achieve optimal health, one needs to care for each aspect. 

A licensed clinical professional counselor (LCPC) is a professional who has been qualified to provide psychotherapy and other counselling services. LCPCs, like Julie, are trained to work with individuals, families, and groups to treat mental, behavioural, and emotional problems and disorders. Julie is also trained in psychiatric medication management.
