  • Intravenous young Fresh Frozen Plasma Investigational Treatment for Parkinsons Disease and Multiple Sclerosis Randomized Controlled Study- Done in conjunction with Golden Genesis and The Neurology Center, Houston Texas, Memorial Hermann- 2018-2019- Role- Primary Investigator- In this trial we looked at the effect of FFP in patients with the diagnosis of the neurodegenerative disorder Parkinsons Disease and the neuroinflammatory condition multiple sclerosis. This was a randomized control trial and my responsibilities included patient recruitment and assessing patients enrolled in the trial by various assessment tools including multiple sclerosis disability scales and The Unified Parkinsons Disease Rating ScalesTheragnostic Endocannabinoid CBR1 Agonist and its therapeutic effect in Alzheimers Disease- Done in conjunction with Vyripharm Enterprises during my time as chief medical officer- PI- 2021- 2022- Designed this study to test our theragnostic molecule in animal models for Alzheimers disease with further research in humans planned.- The initial study design was based on the use of a patented CB1 agonist with an attached diagnostic modality that could be used in SPECT and PET scans. The anti-inflammatory effect of the endocannabinoid system has been researched in the past and shown to influence the progression of AD. By using this theragnostic molecule we could treat AD and tract the treatment effect through imaging.

At UTHealth Houston Neurosciences-Memorial City, his mission is to provide quality and compassionate neurological care. He strives to establish trust and good communication with patients and their families regarding care and treatment.

Holding an academic appointment, he serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery at the John P. and Kathrine G. McGovern Medical School of UTHealth Houston.

With a broad educational background, Dr. Patton Jr. received his Medical Degree at Wayne State University School of Medicine, where he was recognized with the Distinguished Service Award and the Marjorie Edwards Award for Scholarship and Community Service. While in medical school, he was co-founder and co-director of the Young Doctors of Detroit High School and Middle School Mentoring Program. He subsequently completed his residency training in neurology and a neuromuscular disease fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine.

A graduate of the Emerging Leaders Forum sponsored by the AAN Class of 2016, Dr. Patton Jr. is also a graduate of the Texas Medical Association’s Leadership College and received his MBA from the Jones School of Business at Rice University. 

Board certified in neurology, he is a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). The ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to serving the professions of psychiatry and neurology.

Over the course of his dynamic career, Dr. Patton Jr. has honed his skills in financial modeling/forecasting, strategic planning, and operational management to perform company evaluations and assist clients in raising capital, maximizing ROI, and improving marketing impact. He has served as an advisor at TMCX, a local medical start-up accelerator system located in the Texas Medical Center. 

His experience in the field of neurology combined with his executive MBA will enable him to apply universal business development methodologies, such as process improvement, operations management, and pricing model strategy to reduce costs, leverage data analysis to redefine the healthcare industry, and enhance customer/patient relationship planning.

Professionally, Dr. Patton Jr. currently serves on the Board of the Texas Neurological Society, one of the largest state neurological societies in the nation, and served as president from 2022 to 2023. He is a past president of the Harris County Medical Society-Southwest Branch, a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, and a Fellow of the American Leadership Forum.

Involved with the American Academy of Neurology, Dr. Patton Jr. is a member of the Government Relations Committee and a part of the Federal Advocacy Committee, where he is responsible for aiding in creating the federal advocacy agenda.

Neurology is a branch of medicine dealing with disorders of the nervous system. Neurologists are licensed medical specialists who diagnose and treat disorders that affect the brain, spinal cord, nerves, and muscles of patients. They examine a patient’s mental and physical status, conduct medical tests and scans, and evaluate the results to diagnose and treat the patient.
