Get to know Oncologist Dr. Numan A. Fateh, who serves patients in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

Dr. Fateh is a board-certified and fellowship-trained oncologist whose clinical interests include cancers of the lung, colon, stomach, pancreas, head, and neck. He works at Geisinger Cancer Institute, which is a part of Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

Geisinger Cancer Institute is home to one of the region’s largest teams of fellowship-trained cancer specialists. Every day, they use the latest care options, including participation in national clinical trials, genetic testing, and many others. It is their job to care for the whole person, not just the diagnosed condition.

Following the completion of his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2010, Dr. Fateh went on to pursue his training. He completed his internship at Nassau University Medical Center in 2011, his residency at Southampton Hospital in 2014, and his fellowship at Larkin Community Hospital in 2017.

Subsequent to his education, the doctor earned board certification in internal medicine through the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine, which is an organization that provides board certification to qualified DOs who specialize in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of disease in adults.

To advance his professional efforts, he remains a member of the American Osteopathic Association, the American Society of Hematology, and the American Society of Clinical Oncology. He also remains affiliated with Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.

Oncology is a branch of medicine that deals with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer. A medical professional who practices oncology is an oncologist. An oncologist is a doctor who treats cancer and provides medical care for a person diagnosed with cancer. They lead a cancer treatment team of various healthcare professionals, treat patients with radiation therapy, coordinate treatment plans and prescribe various types of treatment, including chemotherapy and immunotherapy, as well as assist patients with pain management.

On a more personal note, Dr. Fateh speaks English as well as basic Spanish and basic Urdu.
