Get to know Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, Kunta Gautam, who serves patients in Cypress, Texas.

Kunta is a dedicated pediatric nurse practitioner with over 20 years of nursing experience, 13 of which have been in the NP role. 

With a strong background in public health, she is currently practicing at Texas Children’s Urgent Care Fairfield. She has a special interest in children and families with autism spectrum and her area of focus is general pediatrics.

Originally from Nepal, Kunta graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from the Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in 2001. After relocating to the United States, she received her dual MSN/MPH degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston in 2011. At the moment, she is pursuing a PhD in Nursing Science at the Nelda Stark School of Nursing at Texas Woman’s University.

Recognized as a dedicated researcher and academic, Kunta has received national certification by the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board. She is also an active member of various professional organizations, including the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners, and the Texas Nurse Association.

Throughout her nursing career, she has had experience in adult neurosurgery, working for 5 years at Houston Methodist Hospital. After obtaining her pediatric nursing degree, she worked in specialties such as physical medicine and rehabilitation & pediatric surgical cardiology at Texas Children’s Hospital, tending to children with cerebral palsy and other spasticity disorders.
