Get to know Pediatric Allergist and Immunologist Dr. Ann Borreson, who serves patients throughout the State of Louisiana.

Dr. Borreson is a highly qualified pediatric allergist and immunologist, a licensed occupational therapist, and a lifestyle physician who emphasizes a holistic approach to client and family-centered care.

In her capacity as the Founder of Thrive with Dr. Ann, based in New Orleans, Louisiana, she specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of children on the autism spectrum and those dealing with related issues like anxiety, allergies, attention deficit disorder, picky eating, and other sensory processing problems. Dr. Borreson’s approach involves close collaboration with parents, children, and other healthcare providers to make informed decisions, establish goals, and select the most suitable type(s) of treatment for each child. At the core of her treatment philosophy lies a focus on utilizing movement and play-based interventions, underpinned by the latest neuroplasticity research to target the integration of the brain and body.

Beyond her work at her private practice, Dr. Borreson has been a valued member of the Ochsner allergy staff since 2017. Her practice extends to serving both children and adults at various Ochsner healthcare facilities, including Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans, Ochsner Medical Complex – Clearview, and Ochsner Center for Primary Care and Wellness.

A 1987 graduate of Drexel University College of Medicine, Dr. Borreson went on to perform her residency in internal medicine at Madigan Army Medical Center from 1987-1990. She then completed her fellowship in allergy and immunology at Tulane University from 1994-1996.

Furthering her education, Dr. Borreson graduated with her Master of Science Degree in Healthcare Management from the University of New Orleans in 2009 and earned a Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of Southern California in 2016.

With over three decades of experience, she is board certified in allergy and immunology by the American Board of Allergy and Immunology (ABAI). The mission of the ABAI is to improve the quality of medical care by the development and utilization of professional and educational standards for the initial certification and maintenance of certification of physician specialists in allergy and immunology.

During a distinguished career in medical education and practice, Dr. Borreson served as a clinical instructor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Louisville School of Medicine from 1991 to 1994. She then assumed the role of clinical assistant professor within the Department of Medicine at Tulane University School of Medicine from 1997 to 2013, and held the role of a physician and educator with the Ochsner Clinic Foundation in Jefferson, Louisiana, during the period of 2008 to 2009.

As a practitioner, Dr. Borreson left a meaningful impact on the field of medicine. Her roles as an adult and pediatric allergist from 1996 to 2013, and as an immunologist from 2000 to 2013, with Crescent City Allergy in New Orleans demonstrated her commitment to patient care. In 2016, she took the significant step of founding her own practice, and further expanded her horizons by joining the Ochsner Health System the following year.

Pediatric allergy and immunology is the medical specialty focused on the diagnosis and care of children with allergies, asthma, eczema, and other types of immune system disorders and issues. Pediatric allergists and immunologists treat children from birth through the teenage years. Their choice to specialize in pediatric allergy and immunology equips them to provide the most experience in dealing with the unique medical needs of children who have allergies and immune system problems.

Dr. Borreson attributes her success to her passion for the work that she does in the medical field, particularly in the areas of immunology and autism. In the coming years, she hopes to dedicate more time to volunteering for charities and organizations that support children with autism as well as their families.

In her leisure time, Dr. Borreson enjoys spending time on the beach, hiking, reading, dancing, listening to music, and indulging in New Orleans food.
