Get to know Obstetrician-Gynecologist Dr. Ali Ainsworth, who serves patients in Rochester, Minnesota.

A board-certified and fellowship-trained obstetrician-gynecologist, Dr. Ainsworth is the Director of Patient Experience at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. She works tirelessly, commits fully, and puts the patient at the center of all her work.

Her clinical interests include infertility, fertility preservation, premature ovarian insufficiency, recurrent pregnancy loss, assisted reproductive technology, and in-vitro fertilization.

Teaching students, Dr. Ainsworth serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, specializing in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science.

A 2014 graduate of the University of Kansas School of Medicine, Dr. Ainsworth went on to perform both her residency in obstetrics and gynecology and fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility within the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Mayo Clinic. During her fellowship, she obtained a master’s degree in biomedical science.

Board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology, Dr. Ainsworth is a Diplomate of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG). The mission of the ABOG is to define standards, certify obstetricians and gynecologists, and facilitate continuous learning to advance knowledge, practice, and professionalism in women’s health. 

Active in clinical research and education, Dr. Ainsworth works with medical students, residents, and fellows. Her research interests include long-term health outcomes after infertility and novel approaches to fertility care that aim to improve the patient experience and access to care. 

Obstetrics and Gynecology is the medical specialty that encompasses the two subspecialties. An obstetrician-gynecologist, or OB-GYN, is a healthcare professional who specializes in female reproductive health.

Among Dr. Ainsworth’s various accolades include Elizabeth Sherbon Award, University of Kansas (2009); Glasgow-Rubin Citation for Academic Achievement, University of Kansas School of Medicine (2014); Honor in Medicine, University of Kansas School of Medicine (2014); Daniel K Roberts Medical Student Award for Excellence in Women’s Health, University of Kansas School of Medicine (2014); Best Resident Education in OB/GYN, Mayo Clinic (2017); Patient Safety Award, Mayo Clinic (2018); Ann Harris Research Award, Mayo Clinic (2018); and Mayo Brothers Distinguished Fellowship Award, Mayo School of Graduate Medical Education (2021), among others. 

Outside of practicing medicine, she enjoys spending time with her family, reading, doing yoga, and spending time outside.
