Get to know more about Neurologist Dr. Sean Pauzauskie, who serves patients throughout the State of Colorado.

Specializing in hospital medicine, Dr. Pauzauskie is a board certified neurologist practicing at UCHealth Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins, Colorado. His affiliations extend to UCHealth Greeley Hospital, UCHealth Longs Peak Hospital, and UCHealth Medical Center of the Rockies.

Dr. Pauzauskie is a firm believer that a good physician treats the disease; a great physician treats the wholeness of the person who has the disease. His clinical focus encompasses stroke, epilepsy, neuromuscular diseases, and cognitive/behavioral neurology.

Rooted in a childhood surrounded by healthcare professionals, including his father, a healthcare attorney, and his uncle, a surgeon, Dr. Pauzauskie’s passion for medicine bloomed early. He pursued a Bachelor of Arts Degree, majoring in Biology and English, from the University of Kansas in 2005, followed by a Medical Degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine in 2010.

His journey continued with an internship at St. Mary’s Medical Center in 2011, a residency in neurology at the University of California Davis Health from 2011 to 2012, and an additional residency in neurology at Texas Tech University HSC El Paso from 2015 to 2018.

Licensed to practice medicine in Wyoming, Texas, and Colorado, Dr. Pauzauskie is board certified in neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). The ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to promoting high-quality patient care for the public through the initial and continuing certification of psychiatrists and neurologists.

Serving as President of the Northern Colorado Medical Society, Dr. Pauzauskie also chairs the Colorado Medical Political Action Committee, which is devoted to educating and endorsing political candidates at the state and federal level who support and promote physician and patient-centered issues. 

His research interests include molecular and cellular basis of epilepsy, preventative strategies for dementia through healthy lifestyles, artificial intelligence to improve diagnostics, device development, pharmacogenomics, and advancing innovation in neuropharmacology.

Neurology is a branch of medicine dealing with disorders of the nervous system. Neurologists are licensed medical specialists who diagnose and treat disorders that affect the brain, spinal cord, nerves, and muscles of patients. They examine a patient’s mental and physical status, conduct medical tests and scans, and evaluate the results to diagnose and treat the patient.

Beyond caring for patients, Dr. Pauzauskie enjoys reading and writing fiction, playing the piano and composition, fishing, golfing, and following college basketball. Alongside these pursuits, he has a keen interest in family history and genealogy, along with a commitment to public health initiatives.

Outside of his passions, Dr. Pauzauskie shares his life with his wife, Jen, and together they cherish the company of their husky named Tika.
