Can a family practitioner recommend antidepressant medications?
Of course. It sounds like your family doctor has been thorough and focusing on both, your emotional and physical health, which is great. Unipolar depression and anxiety are usually handled by most family practitioners, especially since there aren’t enough psychiatrist. I recommend to seek further assessment by paychiatrist if there has been a sub-optimal response in the context of compliance with medication as there may be a misdiagnosis. Besides, having a second opinion is something I always encourage. Hope this was helpful. READ MORE
Blurred vision with Celexa. Is this normal?
Although it’s not a common side effect, there is a serious side effect called angle closure glaucoma that may occur with certain medications, including Celexa. This a medical emergency. May be associated with pain, blurry vision, or seeing halos. If this is a new onset and there are no other identifiable triggers, I recommend discontinuing Celexa and following up with a psychiatrist and an ophthalmologist. If pain and vision problems persist or worsen, go to the nearest hospital. READ MORE

The road to abstinence sometimes has ‘relapses.’ What’s important here is how quickly one is able to identify this, be honest with themselves, ask for help, and return to counseling and meetings for support. Hope this was helpful. READ MORE

Other things include meditation, praying, reaching out to loved ones, therapy, keeping a journal, etc., which should be tailored individually. It’s all about good self care! READ MORE
