In general, we don’t do both eyes at the same time. Except when the risk anesthesia is higher than the risk of infection. This occurs rarely. Twice in thirty years. Once when the patient was a newborn with cataract where the risk of death was 40 percent with anesthesia. How do I get my contacts out without touching my eyes?
You have to touch the lens, not your eye. There is no way to remove the lens without touching the contact lens unless you have hard lenses. If you have a soft lens, touch the side of the lens and squeeze the lens between your fingers. If you have a hard lens, you can open the eyelids and squeeze them tight with your fingers on the lid and the lids outside the pupil and then close the eyelids with pressure from the fingers, pushing the lens out of the eye.
