Some bronchodilators might include cardiac side effects, but there are some that wouldn't.     The chlorine in pools can irritate the airways and possibly trigger a bronchospasm (especially indoor pools with less ventilation). I would recommend mineral water pools or if nothing else a salt water pool with very little added chemicals. In any situation, always carry a rescue inhaler and he should be supervised by people aware of his condition and what to do in the event of an asthma attack.
