A native of Idaho, Dr. Furnas is a plastic surgeon who joined the University of California, Irvine in 1969 and found its plastic surgery residency program. Since 1980, he has served as Clinical Professor and Chief of the Division of Plastic Surgery.

Dr. Furnas was honored recently for his career of nearly three decades at the University, where he is recognized as a leading international practitioner, researcher, writer, lecturer, and educator in the field of plastic and reconstructive surgery. Additionally, Dr. Furnas is on the Advisory Board of the African Medical & Research Foundation.
