Founded in 1906 as Martins Ferry Hospital by local physician Dr. R.H. Wilson, East Ohio Regional Hospital is a 140-bed health care facility. Having begun its tradition of healing with only 30 beds and five physicians, the hospital has flourished with the expansion of services and the addition of new health care facilities and centers. Its mission is to provide quality, compassionate, and state-of-the-art family centered health care, while promoting education and wellness.
Graduating with her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in 2000, Dr. Okarma went on to further her training. She completed her internship and her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at The Western Pennsylvania Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA.
Subsequent to her education, the doctor attained board certification in obstetrics and gynecology through the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG). The ABOG is an organization that provides board certification to qualified Doctors of Medicine who specialize in the care of the female reproductive tract and children during the course of pregnancy, childbirth, and the postnatal period (obstetricians) and to qualified Doctors of Medicine who specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the female reproductive tract (gynecologists).
