Get to know Pharmacist Dr. Ileana Dominguez, who serves patients in West New York, New Jersey.

Dr. Dominguez, a well-versed pharmacist, is licensed by the appropriate state regulatory agency to engage in the practice of pharmacy. She serves as the President of Gilmore Pharmacy in West New York, New Jersey.

“Gilmore Pharmacy was born from a realization that numerous individuals were failing to follow up after being prescribed medication by their physicians. We found a way to streamline the whole process in order to make it easier for everyone to heal. Through our interventions and medication management protocols, we’re doing more than just providing medication. We care about your well-being, and aim to do everything in our power in order to make sure you’re receiving the treatment you need and deserve. With our professional staff of pharmacists and associates and a personal touch, we’re accomplishing the mission we set out to achieve: we’re helping the sick get better” as stated on their website.

Before embarking on her professional journey, Dr. Dominguez graduated with her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the Arnold & Marie Schwartz College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences at Long Island University. The program consists of two years of preprofessional studies (offered through LIU Brooklyn’s Richard L. Conolly College of Liberal Arts and Sciences) and four years of professional studies. The Doctor of Pharmacy degree is classified as a “doctor’s degree-professional practice” by the U.S. Department of Education.

Pharmacy is the health science that links medical science with chemistry and it is charged with the discovery, production, control, disposal, safe and effective use of drugs. The practice of pharmacy requires excellent knowledge of drugs, their mechanism of action, side effects, interactions, mobility, and toxicity. Pharmacists, also known as chemists or druggists, are health professionals who specialize in the use of medicines, as they deal with the composition, effects, mechanism of action, and proper and effective use of drugs.
