Groin pain can be referred from other areas like the spine or sports hernia, or athletic pubalgia. Good clinical evaluation is most important. If the hip MRI is normal, then you need further evaluation like for the spine or pelvic area. Sometimes if the MRI is normal and spine and other causes of pain have been ruled out, your doctor might order an MRI with dye. If MRI is normal then I would not suggest any hip arthroscopy.
