Dr. Dow is a native Texan who completed his medical school training at the University of Texas Medical School in Houston where he was awarded membership in the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha honor society in1983. He then went on to complete his General Surgical internship and residency at The University of Texas Health Sciences Center in San Antonio. Following General Surgery training, Dr. Dow went on to complete his Cardiothoracic surgical fellowship at The Oklahoma University Health Sciences Center. In 1990 he started his private practice in El Paso, TX where he served as a surgical leader and associate professor in Thoracic and Vascular surgery at Texas Tech University Medical School. In 1996 Dr. Dow was recruited to Las Cruces, NM in order to develop and maintain a strong local Cardiac Surgical program – the first in southern New Mexico. Since that time he has remained a pioneer and leader in cardiovascular surgery in southern New Mexico and is the founding member of the first cardiac surgical program in the southern part of the state. He currently heads New Mexico Cardiovascular Associates which he founded in 1996. Dr. Dow has found and led the development of two highly successful hospital based open heart surgical programs in Las Cruces, NM.

He was the founding member and chairman of the cardiovascular committee in Las Cruces, NM. In 1998, Dr. Dow was named to the “Best Doctors in America” list by his peers. He is a diplomat of the American Board of Thoracic Surgery, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons. He has served as a hospital board trustee and remains an active leader in the surgical community. He currently serves as the chair and head of Memorial Medical Center's Cardiovascular Surgery Program. His interests include all aspects of adult cardiovascular, vascular, and thoracic surgery including beating heart surgery, valve replacement and repair surgery, endovascular repair of abdominal aneurysms, and lung surgery.
