    If the pain is coming from the muscles around the neck acupuncture can help you in just a few treatments. If it something more complicated like an herniated disc or nerve damage it will take longer and will also require attention from other specialists/adjacent techniques like chiropractic, physiotherapy, orthopedics or neurology.   • How many acupuncture sessions are needed for chronic pain?

    The answer is not simple. As chronic pain is very complex. And the origin of the pain can be very varied. But normally a course of acupuncture is about 10 treatments. In those initial 10 treatments you should feel relief of the symptoms in three possible ways (or combination): reduction of intensity, improvement on range of motion, or reduction of the time frame of the pain.   • How often should I get acupuncture for pain?

    If is something acute, I would suggest daily. I offer a “quick session” appointments were you’ll be treated for about half an hour several times in a week. I see great results from that type of treatment. READ MORE

    Lower back treatment can be a single technique, like acupuncture, tuina (Chinese medical massage), Ba Guan Fa (cupping), Gua Sha (soft tissue manipulation), moxibustion (heat), liniments and poultices/plasters, etc. Or a combination of several of this techniques. For acute injuries, I normally do some Tuina and Acupuncture. For more chronic conditions, I regularly add heat, liniments/plasters and/or guasha/baguan.     If the nerve pain is due to some muscles pressing on the nerves the prognosis is fairly good, around 10 treatments. Get to know Acupuncturist Mr. David Amador, who serves patients in East Syracuse and Macedon, New York.

Mr. Amador, a licensed acupuncturist, evaluates and treats patients based on the concepts of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). He specializes, but is not limited to, sports medicine, pain management, and Tui Na (a form of Chinese medical massage). Currently, he practices at Eastside Acupuncture and Longevity Complementary Care Center in East Syracuse and Macedon, New York, respectively

His mission is to provide consistent, affordable, high quality, and compassionate care to patients and teach them the importance of maintaining wellness and advocating for their care. Both clinics provide acupuncture and Chinese medicine-based care to community members and specializes in the treatment of sports injuries, pain conditions and women’s health. It also offers a more holistic approach to treating digestive, gynecological and autoimmune conditions.

Born in Mexico City, Mr. Amador began his studies in Taijiquan, Qigong, and Gongfu in 1986. Years later, in 2019, he graduated from the Finger Lakes School of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine at New York Chiropractic College.

To date, he has completed over 4,000 hours of clinical training that included a clinical internship at Zhejiang Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine. He has also participated in dozens of seminars and workshops in Mexico, Puerto Rico, Spain, Canada, the United States, and China. In Puerto Rico, he taught medical qigong in the Hospital Español Auxilio Mutuo for twelve years.

Certified through the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, Mr. Amador is a Certified Instructor of the Five Sections Taijiquan Program. In addition, he is a member of the American Society of Acupuncturists and the Acupuncture Society of New York.

Acupuncture is a form of alternative medicine and a key component of Traditional Oriental Medicine. It is a technique in which thin needles are inserted into the body and in some cases, electro-stimulation is applied to gently stimulate particular regions of the body. Acupuncture is also used to maintain general health and well-being. Acupuncturists treat a variety of physical and psychological issues, such as anxiety, depression, insomnia, pain, digestive disorders, and infertility. 

Outside of the office, Mr. Amador enjoys hiking, climbing, camping, and photography. He also practices Yang Style and Chen Style Taijiquan.
