“A hospitalist is a licensed physician who practices exclusively in a hospital and treats/manages a large range of diseases. My job is to treat patients who are hospitalized due to a variety of illnesses. I have the ability to consult other physicians who specialize in a certain aspect of medicine to further help manage/treat my patients. I specifically work with the residents at night and then we essentially just run the hospital, any code blues or rapid responses, we’re the rapid response team and code blue team. I do procedures, I do central lines, I do arterial lines, I do intubations, I guess just kind of run the hospital while everybody’s asleep” stated Dr. Asher.
Founded in 1836, Piedmont Columbus Regional is a leading healthcare provider in west Georgia serving the Columbus area with a network of health and medical services through its two hospital campuses. Its mission is “to promote the health and healing of our patients.”
Holding a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Saint Leo University, Dr. Asher graduated with his medical degree from the University of Medicine and Health Sciences in St. Kitts in 2017. He then went on to perform his residency in family medicine at Piedmont Medical Center, where he served as chief resident from 2019 until 2020.

Hospital medicine is a medical specialty that exists in some countries as a branch of internal or family medicine, dealing with the care of acutely ill hospitalized patients.
