The doctor’s acclaimed career in medicine began after she earned her medical degree from Osmania Medical College in India in 1995. She then went on to perform her residency in pediatrics at NYC Health + Hospitals/Metropolitan in 2004, and her fellowship in neonatal-perinatal medicine at the University of Maryland Medical Center in 2007.

A Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (FAAP), Dr. Bolarum is board-certified in pediatrics and neonatal-perinatal medicine by the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP). The mission of the ABP is to advance child health by certifying pediatricians who meet standards of excellence and are committed to continuous learning and improvement.

Neonatology is a subspecialty of pediatrics that consists of the medical care of newborn infants, especially the ill or premature newborn. It is a hospital-based specialty, and is usually practised in neonatal intensive care units. Neonatologists diagnose and treat newborns infants with breathing disorders, infections, birth defects or other conditions. They are trained to manage the medical care necessary for premature infants or critically ill newborns, especially coordinating any surgical procedures. They also work closely with pediatricians and dietitians to ensure that fragile newborns receive the nutrition they need for healing and growth.
