Get to know Physician Assistant Caroline Herrera, who serves patients in multiple Orlin & Cohen locations on Long Island.

Ms. Herrera is a board-certified physician assistant, currently working as an Orthopedic PA-C at Orlin & Cohen Orthopedic Group on Long Island.

Orlin & Cohen has Long Island’s largest, most experienced team of orthopedic subspecialists, available seven days a week. The doctors have years of extra fellowship training in the nation’s top programs, which gives them specialized expertise, experience, and access to the latest techniques so that patients experience better outcomes. Academically, Ms. Herrera graduated with her Bachelor of Science degree in Life Sciences from the New York Institute of Technology in 2018. She then went on to earn her Master of Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies from the same educational venue in 2020.

While studying at the New York Institute of Technology, she served as a Student Ambassador from January of 2015 until May of 2019. Her responsibilities included: administering tours to prospective students, working with college administration to reach out to prospective students, assembling mailings to be sent out to current and prospective students and schools, assisting at college events such as information sessions and open houses, and using simple coding to input information about prospective students.

With a commitment to excellence, Ms. Herrera is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). The purpose of the NCCPA is to provide certification programs that reflect standards for clinical knowledge, clinical reasoning, and other medical skills and professional behaviors required upon entry into practice and throughout their careers as physician assistants.

A physician assistant is a health care practitioner who practices medicine in collaboration with physicians. They examine patients, prescribe medicine, and order diagnostic tests. In most cases, they work under the supervision of physicians or surgeons, but they can work more independently in some states, rural areas, and inner-city areas, consulting with physicians only when they need help with cases.
