John Moritz, DO, FACP, FASAM
Dr. John Moritz is a board certified internal medicine physician. He is also board certified as a subspecialist in addiction medicine. His scope of practice includes the medical management of hospitalized patients with acute medical illnesses and co-occuring psychiatric and/or addiction related diagnoses. As such he is passionate about elevating the level of care and bringing compassion to this stigmatized and underserved population. Indeed, despite all of the medical and scientific advances in the fields of addiction medicine, molecular biology and neuroscience, there remains a huge knowlege gap between evolving science and actual community practice. It is Dr. Moritz' mission to close this gap in our community. This effort is ongoing and multipronged. It includes educating colleagues, policy makers, the local criminal justice system and insurance companies while also working with community leaders and reaching out to local care providers to establish a much needed addiction referral infrastructure to better serve his patients.
Dr. Moritz is a life long resident of southwest FL. He and his wife Ginger have three children, Carolyn, Brandon and Abby and a chihuahua named Otis. When not working Dr. Moritz and his family love spending time on our local waters exploring and fishing.
