A native of Czyzki, Poland, Dr. Zemankiewicz served in the Polish Air Force as a master sergeant from 1962 to 1964. He received his education at the Warsaw Medical Academy, earning his medical degree. He then went on to complete his Doctorate degree in orthopedic surgery at the Silesian Medical Academy, Katowice in 1976.
From 1976 until 1981, Dr. Zemankiewicz worked as an adjunct professor at the Silesian Medical Academy. After coming to the United States in 1981, he served as a physician at the Polk General Hospital in Florida and the University of South Florida. Since 1987, he has served as Chairman of the Orthopedic & Rehabilitation Department at Polk General Hospital.
The doctor is board-certified in orthopedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS). The ABOS is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopedic residents and surgeons as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopedic surgeons.
Holding fellowship status, Dr. Zemankiewicz is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the Florida Orthopedic Society, and the American Medical Association. He serves as the organizer of the Polish Association in Lakeland, Florida, as well as has earned diplomas from the rescue operation during hurricane Elena in Tampa, Florida, and from the Polk County Board.
