It depends on the type of ear surgery. For ear tube placement, anesthetic gases are used since the procedure is so short, approximately 15 minutes. Ask your surgeon to get the contact for the anesthesiologists he/she works with and you can discuss the anesthetic techniques with them. READ MORE

  • How are sinus infections treated in babies?

Sinus infections are treated with antibiotics. Adjuvant therapy can include various forms of saline spray to flush the bacteria from the nose and nasal decongestants, like Nasonex or Flonase. • How do I relieve sinus pressure in my cheeks?

If the sinus pressure is related to swelling, the quickest way to relieve sinus pressure is with Afrin nasal spray. 2 sprays each nostril twice daily for 3 days can help decongest (decrease swelling of) the sinus openings and relive the sinus pressure. If you use it more than that, you run the risk of getting addicted. If you don't have heart problems, you can use the behind the counter, but over-the-counter Claitin-D, or Zyrtex-D, or allegra-D. The D refers to a 24-hour extended release dose of psuedofed -120 mg - that is supposed to last 24 hours. A single pill of psuedofed is 30 mg. Once you are decongested, saline and a topical nasal steroid spray, like Flonase or Nasacort or Rhinocort or Nasonex can help keep you open. READ MORE
