Get to know Vascular Surgeon Dr. Westley Smith, who serves patients in East Norriton, Pennsylvania.

Dr. Smith is a seasoned vascular surgeon at Artery and Vein Institute in East Norriton, Pennsylvania.

Artery and Vein Institute is committed to improving the vascular health of patients through advocacy and the compassionate delivery of high- quality, convenient care, including the following services: cerebrovascular and carotid artery surgery, aortic aneurysm surgery, hemodialysis access surgery, limb salvage and peripheral vascular surgery, wound care, varicose vein and insufficiency procedures, leg swelling care, thoracic outlet syndrome surgery, peripheral aneurysm surgeries, chronic mesenteric ischemia, deep venous thrombosis and venous occlusive disease, pelvic congestion syndrome, and inferior vena cava filter placement and removal.

A 2010 graduate of Ross University School of Medicine, Dr. Smith went on to perform his residency in general surgery at NewYork-Presbyterian Queens Hospital. He followed this up with a fellowship in vascular surgery at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.

Subsequent to his education, the doctor attained board certification in vascular surgery through the American Board of Surgery (ABS). The ABS is an independent, non-profit organization located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, founded for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge.

In collaboration with Trinity Health, Dr. Smith is affiliated with Mercy Philadelphia Campus, Mercy Catholic Medical Center – Mercy Fitzgerald Campus, and Nazareth Hospital.

General surgery is a surgical specialty that focuses on abdominal contents including the esophagus, stomach, small bowel, colon, liver, pancreas, gallbladder, appendix and bile ducts, and often the thyroid gland. A general surgeon performs a wide range of abdominal surgeries for many forms of intestinal and abdominal wall neoplasms, gallbladder disease, gastric and pancreatic disease. They follow the patient through critical care and surgical recovery all the way to outpatient care.
