Dr. Blanton has been practicing obstetrics and gynecology in Shreveport-Bossier since 1998. He is a part of the team of professionals at Bossier Healthcare for Women, where he works alongside his cousin, Dr. Scott Robertson.

From the beginning of adolescence through pregnancy to menopause and beyond, Bossier Healthcare for Women is committed to providing the most up to date healthcare available to their patients. Drs. Blanton and Robertson are, in fact, helping pioneer new surgical methods and procedures. They are teaching other surgeons from across the country techniques for minimally invasive hysterectomies. They are also the only gynecologists in Shreveport-Bossier who perform a more effective and efficient procedure for bladder and rectal prolapse.

With a focus on health and well-being, the practice offers in-office fetal monitoring, well woman exams, treatment of abnormal pap smears, and treatment of menopause symptoms. The physicians and staff are honored to assist with bringing life into the world and thoroughly enjoy solving and managing healthcare challenges in women of all ages.

If you are expecting a baby, you can count on Dr. Blanton to care for you and your baby with a high level of expertise, even if you are having a troublesome pregnancy. He has developed an excellent reputation for using minimally invasive procedures when a hysterectomy is needed. He is also committed to continuing his education on the latest innovations in laparoscopic hysterectomies.

A lifelong resident of Northwest Louisiana, Dr. Blanton finished medical school at Louisiana State University School of Medicine at age 23. He then went on to study general surgery at Shreveport’s LSU Health Sciences Center before moving to Pensacola, Florida to learn about specializing in obstetrics and gynecology. He rose through the ranks to become chief resident at Sacred Heart Hospital there. He moved home to Louisiana in 1998.

A Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the doctor is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG). The mission of the ABOG is to define standards, certify obstetricians and gynecologists, and facilitate continuous learning to advance knowledge, practice, and professionalism in women’s health.

In addition to being a teaching physician and proctor physician for ethicon endo surgery, Dr. Blanton is affiliated with CHRISTUS Health Shreveport-Bossier and Willis-Knighton Medical Center.

Obstetrics and Gynecology is the medical specialty that encompasses the two subspecialties. An obstetrician-gynecologist, or OB-GYN, is a healthcare professional who specializes in female reproductive health.

An interesting fact about Dr. Blanton is that his family has been dedicated to health care for generations. The Blanton Memorial Health Unit in Springhill, Louisiana is named in honor of his uncle. His parents are Springhill residents
