Can I get jaw surgery after braces?
Jaw surgery is traditionally completed after dental "decompensation" orthodontics, or braces. This means your teeth will be orthodontically moved to their ideal positions within the upper/lower jaws and surgery is then completed to move the jaws in the correct places along with the teeth. Jaw surgery is very safe and predictable way to correct the malocclusion and the facial deformity. Infections are rare but can occur, since all the incisions are in the mouth and you'll be eating as well.
