Most post-biopsy pain resolves within 2-3 days although I've heard of patients complaining up to a few weeks if they have had bleeding complications. READ MORE
How long does it take for blood thinners to work on blood clots?
The answer depends on the type of blood thinner you are on. Most work immediately, but there are some agents that require bridging to get to therapeutic levels such as Warfarin. READ MORE
How long do you stay in the hospital after a blood transfusion for anemia?
Medical staff usually likes to monitor their patients for at least half an hour after a transfusion for reactions, typically longer. The duration of your hospital stay will likely more largely be determined by whether or not a cause to your anemia has been identified and appropriately addressed. READ MORE

How do you treat a baby's blood infection?
I am not an infectious disease specialist and without knowing what kind of infection it is, it is difficult to say, but I imagine most bacterial infections would be treated with oral or intravenous antibiotics. READ MORE

The severity of anemia can range from mild to life-threatening. If the cause of the anemia can be identified and treated, it can usually be resolved. READ MORE

What is my life expectancy after two units of red blood cell transfusion?
Aside from infection risk, if you have received and tolerated a total of two blood cell transfusions, I do not anticipate an impact on your life expectancy. READ MORE
Is my CBC count normal?
Relative values can fluctuate, and so if your absolute monocyte count is within normal limits, I would not be concerned. READ MORE
What is the right supplementation to give my 8 year old?
Yes, whatever equivalent of 60-65mg elemental iron twice daily would suffice. Iron can be very tough on the gut. I hope she feels better soon. READ MORE
Do I have leukemia?

Leukocytosis treatment?
While the differential diagnoses remain broad, the concern for most physicians for a patient with an elevated white blood cell count without clear infectious or inflammatory etiology is malignancy and your hematologist will likely try to rule this out. READ MORE

I am unsure, but I usually do not recommend trying to lose weight during chemotherapy. It is an excellent time to get in all the nutrition you can tolerate. READ MORE
Is high leukocytes in blood dangerous?
High WBCs can be secondary to a variety of causes that range from smoking to the use of certain medications like steroids to infections and autoimmune disorders as well as malignancies. Figuring out what the cause of your elevated WBC is will determine what can be done to address it. READ MORE

Yes, bacteremia usually requires antibiotics. READ MORE
How long does postpartum anemia last?
Hello, If your post-partum anemia is related to transient blood loss, this may resolve with time. One can consider starting empiric over-the-counter oral iron supplementation 65mg-200mg daily to help your blood counts recover. That said, depending on your degree of anemia and/or whether there are other contributing causes, you may need additional medical assistance for adequate recovery. READ MORE

There is always the possibility of losing enough blood to become anemic after an invasive procedure such as a cesarean section. As for how common this is, I am unsure. READ MORE
