Dr. Bethany King is a facial plastic surgeon practicing in Wichita, Kansas. Dr. King specializes in the enhancement of appearance. Improving aesthetic, symmetry and proportion are key goals in cosmetic surgery. Cosmetic medicine has nothing to do with these specific areas not functioning properly; therefore, this elective field solely focuses on aesthetics and anti-aging. She also performs reconstructive surgery to improve aspects of the face that would benefit from surgery to function more effectively or have been altered by injury or illness, issues that are considered to be improvements in ones medical health and therefore not necessarily for appearance.

How long does facial liposuction last?
Liposuction technically last forever. The fat that’s removed does not grow back. Not all parts of the body can be liposuctioned. Liposuction above the clavicle( collar bone) is typically performed underneath the chin and underneath the jawbone and on the neck to give better definition. Liposuction above the jawbone on the cheeks can be dangerous because it can hurt nerves, so it must be performed by somebody who understands this anatomy extremely well, such as afacial plastic surgeon. In my practice, I typically do not perform liposuction on a woman older than around 45 years old because at that point the skin is no longer elastic and is in jeopardy of hanging after the fat is removed. At that point you must contend with what’s going to happen with the loose skin. Typically the loose skin is then handled with skin re-draping, a surgical procedure performed in a lower face and neck lift. In the right woman, sometimes surgery can be avoided if the skin can be tightened with lasers. It requires an in-person consultation to determine what the patient will need. I hope this is helpful.
