Get to know Urologist Dr. Rene P. Grabato, who serves patients in Pampa, Texas.

With over five decades of experience, Dr. Grabato is a practicing urologist at Pampa Regional Medical Center in Pampa, Texas.

Pampa Regional Medical Center is a 115-bed, not for profit, acute-care community hospital, and a member of the Prime Healthcare Foundation, a 501(c)3 public charity. It serves a population of approximately 65,000 residents in the Texas Panhandle. Founded in 1950, Pampa Regional employs more than 275 full-time and part-time staff members, and is accredited by The Joint Commission.

The doctor’s acclaimed career in medicine began after he earned his medical degree from the University of Santo Tomas Faculty of Medicine and Surgery in the Philippines in 1970. He then performed a residency at De Ocampo Memorial Medical Center in 1972, after which he relocated to the United States. Once there, he pursued an internship and residency at Long Island College Hospital, and a fellowship at the International College of Surgeons in Chicago, completing his training in 2005.

An expert in his field, Dr. Grabato is board-certified in urology by the American Board of Urology (ABU). The mission of the ABU is to act for the benefit of the public by establishing and maintaining standards of certification for urologists, and working with certified urologists to achieve lifelong learning to ensure the delivery of high quality, safe, and ethical urologic care. 

Practicing medicine in Texas, he is affiliated with BSA Hospital and Golden Plains Community Hospital.

Urology, also known as genitourinary surgery, is the branch of medicine that focuses on surgical and medical diseases of the male and female urinary-tract system and the male reproductive organs. Urologists specialize in diseases of the urinary tract and the male reproductive system. Patients may be referred to a urologist if their physician suspects they may need treatment for a condition relating to the bladder, prostate, urethra, ureters, kidneys, and adrenal glands.
