Get to know General Surgeon Dr. Brian J. Beckord, who serves patients in Yreka, California.

A top general surgeon, Dr. Beckord is affiliated with Fairchild Medical Center in Yreka, California. He specializes in a array of procedures including colonoscopies, skin and soft tissue surgery, breast cancer surgery, advance laparoscopic and robotic surgery for various intra-abdominal pathology such as gallbladder disease, Inguinal, ventral, and hiatal hernias, as well as intestinal and colorectal disease.

A Colorado native, Dr. Beckord graduated with his Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular Genetics from the University of San Diego in 2008. Dr Beckord did his surgical training at Harbor-UCLA. 

A former President of the Iota Epsilon Alpha Academic Medical Honor Society, he maintains membership with the American College of Surgeons and the American Medical Association.

Prior to joining Fairchild Medical Center, Dr. Beckord was a resident physician within the Emergency Room at one of the busiest hospitals in the Los Angeles area, Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. He was also an Ambassador for Doximity and a Research Associate at Gen Probe Inc.

General surgery is a surgical specialty that focuses on abdominal contents including the esophagus, stomach, small bowel, colon, liver, pancreas, gallbladder, appendix and bile ducts, and often the thyroid gland. A general surgeon performs a wide range of abdominal surgeries for many forms of intestinal and abdominal wall neoplasms, gallbladder disease, gastric and pancreatic disease. They follow the patient through critical care and surgical recovery all the way to outpatient care.

On a more personal note, Dr. Beckord wants to be involved in the community as much as possible. He is now on the coaching staff for the Yreka Miners football team. He enjoys all the great outdoor activities Siskiyou County offers, such as fishing and hiking, and working in his backyard garden.
