Get to know Pathologist Dr. John Flickinger, who serves patients in Platteville, Wisconsin.

A board-certified pathologist, Dr. Flickinger is affiliated with The Specialist Clinic at Southwest Health in Platteville, Wisconsin.

Southwest Health is a growing not-for-profit community health care provider offering patient-centered personal care to residents of southwest Wisconsin and beyond. From their three facilities, their health care team provides a wide range of acute care hospital services, skilled nursing care, rehabilitation, memory care, behavioral and mental health services, and physician clinics.

Graduating with his medical degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine, Dr. Flickinger went on to perform his residency and fellowship in surgical pathology at the Indiana University Medical Center.

An expert in his field, the doctor is board-certified in anatomic & clinical pathology by the American Board of Pathology (ABPath). The mission of the ABPath is to promote the health of the public and advance the practice and science of pathology by establishing voluntary certification standards and assessing the qualifications of those seeking to practice the specialty of pathology. 

Holding a license to practice medicine in Wisconsin, Dr. Flickinger can be found on staff at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital, Upland Hills Health Dodgeville Hospital, Monroe Clinic, and Grant Regional Health Center.

Pathology is a branch of medical science that involves the study and diagnosis of disease through the examination of surgically removed organs, tissues, bodily fluids, and in some cases, the whole body. Pathologists are physicians who specialize in the diagnosis and management of diseases by laboratory methods.
