Dr. Aran is a fellowship-trained foot and ankle orthopedic surgeon who specializes in the lower extremity. He is a member of the Miami Bone and Joint Institute and is partnered with the Miami Hand and Upper Extremity Institute.

Practicing in the Miami area, he does fracture care of the entire lower extremity, joint replacement, reconstructive work (bunions, Haglund’s deformity, flatfoot corrections, Charcot arthropathy, etc.) and always enjoys a challenge. He loves working with patients and helping them return to their favorite activities.

Born in Miami to Fernando and Marianela Aran, Dr. Aran went to Belen Jesuit for high school. While at Belen, he participated in sports and excelled academically. He went on to college at Princeton University where he played football. In college, he majored in Spanish Language and Literature while completing his Pre-Med requirements. His Senior Thesis titled “The Disparity in Health Care for Spanish‐speaking Immigrants in the United States” won the Isidore and Helen Sacks Memorial Prize‐ Award for Most Outstanding Senior Thesis in Spanish or Spanish American studies.

After Princeton, Dr. Aran returned to Miami to attend the FIU Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine for medical school. He was a member of Alpha Omega Alpha and this is where he met his wife. They couples-matched Orthopedic Surgery Residency at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center and were married after graduating from medical school.

At Wake Forest, Dr. Aran and Dr. Orbay did their five years of training. They got an amazing hands-on experience learning orthopedic surgery from very humble and talented surgeons. They had great mentors and established lifelong relationships with their co-residents.

After residency, Dr. Aran went to Duke University to complete his foot and ankle fellowship. While there, he learned from some of the most well-known foot and ankle surgeons that have pioneered many of the surgeries of the lower extremity. In fact, he learned to manage some of the most complex foot and ankle pathologies.

Board-certified in orthopedic surgery, he is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS). The ABOS is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopedic residents and surgeons as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopedic surgeons.

Staying up to date in his field, Dr. Aran remains an active member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery and the American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society.
