A distinguished academic, Dr. Byrd earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from Birmingham-Southern College before pursuing his medical education at William Carey University School of Osteopathic Medicine (2012-2016). During his residency in psychiatry at UAB (2016-2020), he identified a critical need for comprehensive and accessible psychiatric care, particularly within correctional facilities. Dr. Byrd’s exceptional aptitude for psychiatry was evident as he scored in the top 2% nationwide in the PRITE (Psychiatry Residency In Training Exam). At the core of Dr. Byrd’s mission is the desire to create a lasting legacy of mental health empowerment. By challenging conventional healthcare norms and advocating for patient-centered approaches, he aims to inspire individuals and communities to prioritize their mental well-being.
