Get to know Emergency Physician Dr. Sandra S. Haroun, who serves patients in Brick Township, New Jersey.

Dr. Haroun is an osteopathic emergency physician currently serving her patients at Ocean University Medical Center, which is a part of Hackensack Meridian Health.

To begin her career, Dr. Haroun earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine in 2015. From there, she attended the University of Buffalo and completed her residency at the University of Buffalo in 2018. 

A year later, in 2019, she attained board certification in emergency medicine through the American Osteopathic Board of Emergency Medicine (AOBEM). The AOBEM is an organization that provides board certification to qualified Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine who specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of acutely ill patients with advanced cardiac life support, trauma, and the management of other life-threatening medical issues (emergency physicians).

A professional member of the American College of Emergency Physicians, Dr. Haroun is affiliated with Hackensack Meridian Health Shore Rehabilitation Institute, Hackensack Meridian Health Jersey Shore University Medical Center, and Saint Barnabas Medical Center.

Emergency medicine, also known as accident and emergency medicine, is the medical specialty concerned with the care of illnesses or injuries requiring immediate medical attention. An emergency physician works in an emergency department to care for acutely ill or injured patients on an unscheduled basis.

On a more personal note, Dr. Haroun attributes her success to focusing on her patients when they are in the worst days and making sure to help them in any way she can. She speaks both English and Arabic.
