“When treating patients, I believe it’s important for physicians to form a partnership with their patients. My goal is to provide patients with all the resources they need to make informed decisions with respect to their care, and this takes listening, conversing, and connecting. I want my patients to understand all aspects of their care, and no question or concern is too small” expressed Dr. Guzman.
A native of South West Florida, Dr. Guzman grew up in Charlotte county. He completed his medical training at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City, where he graduated with distinction in research. Following medical school, he completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at Mount Sinai, and then went on to complete his fellowship at the prestigious Institute for Foot and Ankle Reconstruction at Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland.
“Foot and ankle conditions can be complex and there is no “one size fits all.” My goal is to treat patients with nonoperative treatment whenever possible, whether this entails bracing, customized orthotics, or therapy. When surgery is needed, my patients will be treated to their individual needs with the goal of getting them back to doing the things they love, whether this is taking a walk or going back to playing competitive sports” stated Dr. Guzman.
Orthopedic surgery is the branch of surgery concerned with conditions involving the musculoskeletal system. Orthopedic surgeons use both surgical and non-surgical means to treat musculoskeletal trauma, spine diseases, sports injuries, degenerative diseases, infections, tumors, and congenital disorders.
