Get to know Periodontist Dr. Elias A. Exarchos, who serves patients in Lexington, Massachusetts.

A skilled periodontist, Dr. Exarchos is affiliated with Lexington Periodontics and Implantology, LLC in Massachusetts. Understanding that many patients may not be completely comfortable with visiting a periodontist, he endeavors to make visits a low-stress experience with minimal discomfort. His primary focus is to provide dental services in periodontics and implant dentistry – rescuing teeth from periodontal disease and providing implant services when necessary, using a spectrum of traditional and innovative techniques depending on his patients’ unique needs.

Lexington Periodontics & Implantology has been proudly serving patients from Lexington and the surrounding MetroWest communities of Arlington, Bedford, Concord, Burlington, Waltham, Woburn, and Winchester since 1972. In treating periodontal disease, they perform a comprehensive evaluation and follow a team approach in working closely with general dentists to develop the right treatment for patients, whether it is surgical or non-surgical. It is their ultimate goal in both saving and replacing teeth to restore optimal oral health and bring patients to full function.

A native of Massachusetts, Dr. Exarchos received his Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering at Boston University and his Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry degree from Boston University’s Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine, where he graduated magna cum laude. He then went on to complete his 3-year advanced specialty training in Periodontology and a Master’s degree in Oral Biology at the same educational venue, where he was awarded the merit-based Zanni Scholarship along with several other awards including the Quintessence Award for Clinical Achievement in Periodontics and the Morris P. Ruben Award for academics.

As a testament of his continued education, the doctor is recognized as a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. The mission of the American Board of Periodontology is to certify the achievement of in-depth knowledge and proficiency in the full scope of periodontology and dental implant surgery through examination and periodic recertification.

To maintain his teaching and research interests, Dr. Exarchos holds a position as Clinical Assistant Professor of the Advanced Specialty Education Program, Department of Periodontology at Boston University School of Dental Medicine as well as private practice.

Periodontics is the dental specialty focusing exclusively on the inflammatory disease that destroys the gums and other supporting structures around the teeth. A periodontist is a dentist who specializes in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of periodontal disease, and in the placement of dental implants.

When not at work, Dr. Exarchos enjoys binge-watching Netflix shows with his wife, relaxing at home with his cat, trying new restaurants, and traveling.
