Get to know Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Brett Shannon, who serves patients throughout the States of Pennsylvania.

A devoted pediatric orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Shannon is affiliated with Nemours Children’s Health, working with patients at Nemours duPont Pediatrics, Bryn Mawr in Pennsylvania. He sees children of all ages for any orthopedic problem, specializing in spine and hip conditions, fractures, and sports medicine problems.

Nemours Children’s Health is one of the largest integrated pediatric health systems in the country. Everything they do — their medical care, research, education, and prevention and advocacy efforts — is focused on kids. Their goal is to help children, everywhere, grow into healthy adults.

In regards to his educational background, Dr. Shannon graduated with his medical degree from Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in 2014, and completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in 2019. Finally, he completed his fellowship in pediatric orthopedic surgery at Boston Children’s Hospital in 2020, before joining Nemours in August 2020.

Orthopedic surgery is the branch of surgery concerned with conditions involving the musculoskeletal system. Orthopedic surgeons use both surgical and non-surgical means to treat musculoskeletal trauma, spine diseases, sports injuries, degenerative diseases, infections, tumors, and congenital disorders.
