Get to know Anesthesiologist Dr. Julia Caldwell, who serves patients in Glasgow, Kentucky.

Dr. Caldwell is a board-certified anesthesiologist who is affiliated with T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow, Kentucky. T.J. Dr. Caldwell provides anesthesia in perioperative conditions, as well as pain medicine for a wide range of conditions, including cancers. “I want to help people get back to their lives. Dr. Caldwell earned her medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in 2004. She then went on to complete her residency in anesthesiology at the University of Michigan Health System and her fellowship at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. She also completed an internship in internal medicine at St. Joseph Mercy Livingston Hospital.

Dr. Caldwell served as an Assistant Professor and Researcher at Penn State in Hershey, Pennsylvania from 2012 until 2018. Additionally, she is board-certified in both anesthesiology and pain medicine by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA). The ABA sets standards and exams for the accreditation of board-certified anesthesiologists coming to the end of their residency. It is one of the 24 medical specialty boards that constitutes the American Board of Medical Specialties. In her spare time, Dr. Caldwell enjoys the opera, reading, painting, gourmet cooking, and hanging out with her friends.     

To further her professional development, Dr. Caldwell is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists. She is also a featured lecturer of the American College of Medical Quality. Dr. Caldwell has published articles focused on pain, quality, and ethics.

Anesthesiology, anaesthesiology, anaesthesia or anaesthetics is the medical specialty concerned with the total perioperative care of patients before, during, and after surgery. It encompasses anesthesia, intensive care medicine, critical emergency medicine, and pain medicine. Anesthesiologists have the primary responsibility for monitoring the patient’s vital signs during surgery.
