About

I am a clinical psychologist, school psychologist, and veteran with 6 degrees in psychology and 26 years of experience—20 with Gwinnett County Public Schools. I specialize in conducting evaluations and treating ADHD, learning challenges, anxiety, and behavior concerns.

Just as children should see a pediatrician rather than a general practitioner, children struggling in school should see a psychologist with ample experience in schools. Supports for students who are struggling academically, behaviorally, or emotionally must fit like a glove -- and be efficient -- to be successful in todays classroom settings. Having a specialized skillset and knowing how to strategically apply those skills requires years of training and experience in a school setting.

In addition to traditional treatments, I also offer a program that children truly get excited about called the Academic Success Program (ASP). The ASP is a highly specialized, evidence-based, therapeutic, mindful martial arts treatment. Since 2003, children from 71 public and private schools across 3 counties have participated. Many families prefer this innovative approach as an alternative or supplement to traditional therapy. Decades of closely supervised research have found this program particularly effective for improving executive functions such as attention, focus, working memory, self-control, and behavioral regulation. Most importantly, however, parents and teachers and principals report greatly improved classroom performance. Moreover, the ASP is also highly effective in developing leadership skills, for which many children presenting no concerns have historically been enrolled. Please visit website (academicsuccessprogram.com) for details.

ASP sessions are Tuesdays and Thursdays (5:00pm - 6:00pm) in the gym at Suwanee Elemntary School. Sessions follow the Gwinnett County Public School calendar (no school - no session). Students are to attend twice weekly. Based on research regarding effectiveness, families are asked to commit to a minimum of 8 weeks, but most remain longer. There are no contracts and students may enroll at any time during the school year.

I do not accept insurance, but can provide an insurance statement you may independently submit to seek reimbursement.
